Bulbophyllum odoratissimum (Sm.) Lindl. 1828 is an epiphytic or lithophytic growing miniature orchid species with fragrant flowers.


Bulbophyllum odoratissimum is native to the Himalayas, India (Assam, Sikkim), Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and China. In Thailand this miniature orchid beauty is called Singto Lot Fai, wich means “The light bulb lion” The sweet scented flowers get a size of about 0,7 cm. Flowering period: May - June. Bulbophyllum odoratissimum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical orchid requires a warm temperature and a good air movement to avoid fungal growth.
