The French botanist Charles Gaudichaud-Beaupré (1789 – 1854) was born at 04.09.1789 in the capital of the southwestern French department Charente, Angoulême. He studied pharmacology, chemistry and herbology at Cognac and Angoulême. From 1817 to 1820 he was the serving botanist on a circumglobal expedition.
