Trichoglottis Orchids

The Orchidaceae (Orchid) genus Trichoglottis contains about 65, mostly epiphytic growing orchid species. The Trichoglottis genus has been established in the year 1825 by the German-Dutch botanist Karl Ludwig Blume.
Trichoglottis orchids are native to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Polynesia and Australia.
The abbreviation in horticultural trade is:Trgl.


Trichoglottis atropurpurea Rchb.f. 1876, Trichoglottis brachiata Ames 1922

One will think the latest version of a scientific name will be the correct one,
not so with the Trichoglottis atropurpurea, the name Trichoglottis brachiata,
given by Oak Ames is just accepted as a synoym
and the correct scientific name is still Trichoglottis atropurpurea Rchb.f. 1876…
