Dendrobium tuananhii Aver 2004 Dendrobium trantuanii

20/04/2010

Dendrobium tuananhii Aver. 2004 is an epiphytic growing, miniature orchid species native to Vietnam, discoverd in 2002 by the Vietnamese orchid enthusiast and collector Tran Tuan Anh.

In 2003 Holger Perner described the very rare Dendrobium species as Dendrobium trantuanii Perner & X.N.Dang 2003, just one year later Leonid Averyanow described the same species as Dendrobium tuananhii Aver 2004. Both names seem to be accepted by the science of botany. The waxy, pinkish flowers reach a size up to about 4-5 cm. Flowering period: February - May.
