Paphiopedilum Rosita is a terrestrial growing Lady Slipper orchid hybrid, a crossing from Paphiopedilum callosum (seed parent) and Paphiopedilum charlesworthii (pollen parent).
Paphiopedilum Rosita has been registered by Hugh Low with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1902. Hugh Low (1824 - 1905) was a British colonial administrator on the Malay Peninsula and a naturalist, with a big interest in tropical plants. Several orchids, as the lady slipper orchid Paphiopedilum lowii, Dimorphorchis lowii, Dendrobium lowii or Malaxis lowii has been named in honour to him. Flowers of the Lady Slipper orchid hybrid Paphiopedilum Rosita get a size up to about 8-10 cm.
