17/12/2012

Dendrobium macrophyllum A. Rich. 1834 is an epiphytic growing orchid species,
widely spread over the Malay archipelago.

Flowers get a size of about 5 cm across and are born on up to 40 cm long inflorescences, which carry up to about 25 long-lasting, fragrant flowers.
Flowering period: Spring - Summer.
Dendrobium macrophyllum belongs to the Dendrobium section Latouria and requires a warm - hot, humid climate and moderate light. Plants should be kept moist during growth season, whilst water and fertilizer should be restricted during the winter rest. Dendrobium macrophyllum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
