Grammatophyllum multiflorum Lindl. 1838 is an impressive, very large, epiphytic growing orchid species native to the Philippines.


Inflorescences of mature orchids reach a length up to 1,50 meters and are packed with up to 100 long-lasting, showy flowers. Grammatophyllum orchids are close relatives of Cymbidium orchids and Grammatophyllum multiflorum are one of the longest flowering orchids known, as the tropical plant can stay in bloom for about 9 month. The tropical orchid requires a hot and humid climate with a lot of sun. Single flowers reach a size of about 5 cm. Flowering period: Spring-Autumn. Grammatophyllum multiflorum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
