The Moth Orchid Phalaenopsis White Dream is an epiphytic growing orchid hybrid, a crossing between Phalaenopsis Morning Moon (seed parent) and Phalaenopsis Joseph Hampton (pollen parent). The showy orchid hybrid, one of the most widespread Phalaenopsis hybrids has been developed and registered with the Royal Horticultural Society by Morita Inc. in the year 1987. Inflorescences of Phalaenopsis White Dream reach lengths of nearly one meter and are densely packed with large, white flowers. Flowers get a size of 16 – 17 cm in diameter and with good care they may last several weeks. Flowering period: with good conditions nearly all arond the year. Don`t cut the inflorescence away, until it`s completely dried out, even if all flowers are withered. The same inflorescence may rebloom several times.
Compared with Phalaenopsis species orchids, which are considered as difficult to care, Phalaenopsis hybrids are easy to grow and can be recommended to orchid beginners.
Phalaenopsis orchids require warm temperatures, moderate light or partial shade and a well drained potting medium. Plants should be kept humid,
but not sogging wet. The potting medium should dry out slightly between waterings.
If it´s necessary to repot the orchid, it should be done whilst the plant isn´t in bloom.
