Zygopetalum crinitum Lodd. 1831 is an epiphytic or terrestrial growing orchid species,
native to South and South-East Brazil.


The long-lasting and fragrant flowers get a size of about 9 cm. Flowering period: Winter - Spring. Inflorescences of Zygopetalum crinitum reach lengths up to 45 cm and carry up to 10 waxy flowers. This medium sized orchid species requires cool to intermediate temperatures, which should not exceed 28° C. The potting media should not dry out and should kept moist, but not soggy. Zygopetalum crinitum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
