The Coelogyne genus includes about 190 species native to the Himalayas, India, Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Malaysia, Indonesia and the Fiji Islands. Coelogyne orchids are found in different climate zones, from hot to cold, most orchids of the Coelogyne genus grow epiphytic, but there are terrestrials and even lithophytes. The abbreviation in horticultural trade is: Coel.
