Brachycorythis helferi (Rchb. f.) Summerh. 1955 is a terrestrially growing orchid species, endemic to India (Assam), Bangladesh, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand and Laos. The erect inflorescences reach a length up to 20 cm. Brachycorythis helferi flowers get a size of about 3 - 5 cm. Flowering period: July - September. Brachycorythis helferi orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The terrestrial orchid (ground orchid) requires intermediate - warm tenperatures, a location in partial shade and a well-drained potting medium. Waterings should be restricted during the period of dormancy from late autumn until early spring.
