Bulbophyllum affine Lindl. 1833 is an epiphytic, also terrestrial or lithophytic growing miniature orchid species native to the Himalayas, India (Assam, Sikkim), Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos, South China, Vietnam, Taiwan and Japan (Ryukyu Islands). Flowers get a size of about 3 cm. Flowering period: April - July. Bulbophyllum affine orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).


The tropical miniature orchid requires cool to warm temperatures, a shady location and a good air movement to avoid fungal infections.During the growth season in spring and summer plants should be kept humid, but not wetand should never dry out, whilst during the dormancy period from autumn until spring plants should be kept slightly drier.
