Bulbophyllum auratum (Lindl.) Ridl. 1861 was primaryly described by Sir John Lindley as Cirrhopetalum auratum Lindl. 1840, which is still used as a synonym. The epiphytic growing Bulbophyllum auratum miniature orchid species is native to India (Sikkim), Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The spectacular, fragrant flowers get a length of just about 1,5 cm.Flowering period: June - October. Bulbophyllum auratum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical orchid requires warm - hot temperatures, a shady location and good air movement to avoid fungal infections. In summer plants want to be kept humid, but not wet, the potting medium shouldn´t dry out. During the winter rest waterings should be restricted, the potting medium should slightly dry out.
