Bulbophyllum orectopetalum Garay, Hamer & Siegerist 1992 is an epiphytic growing orchid species, native to Myanmar (fomerly Burma) Thailand, and Cambodia. Flowers, born on short, single-flowered inflorescences, get a size of about 3,5 cm in diameter and are quite variable in colors and markings. Flowering period: Spring. Bulbophyllum orectopetalum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The small-sized, tropical orchid requires intermediate to warm temperatures, partial to full shade, a well-drained potting medium and a good air movement to avoid fungal infections. Plants should be kept moist, but not sogging wet, during the growth season. During the winter rest waterings should be restricted.
