Dendrobium sanderae var major Rolfe 1909 has been found in the mountains of Central Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. The epiphytic growing orchid species is native to the tropical pine forests and grows on the trunks of pine trees at upper elevations from 1000 - 1600 meters.The long-lasting Dendrobium sanderae var major flowers get a size up to 10 cm.
Flowering period: Spring - Autumn.
The beautiful orchid has been named by the British botanist Robert Allen Rolfe (1855–1921) in honour to the German orchidologist and nurseryman
Henry Frederick Conrad Sander (1847 – 1920).
