Dendrochilum magnum Rchb. f. 1861, commonly called The Large Dendrochilum, is an epiphytic growing orchid species native to the Philippines.


The many flowered inflorescences reach a length up to about 50 cm. Single flowers ge a size of about 1,5 cm. Dendrochilum magnum orchid flowers are highly fragrant with an intense sweet lemony scent. While most people sense the smell as pleasant, some people feel it as soapy and intrusive. In the wild Dendrochilum magnum grows in forests at elevations of 1600 to 2000 meters, the tropical plant requires a cool to warm temperature and a shady habitat. Flowering season: Summer - Autumn. Dendrochilum magnum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
