It´s no wonder, that the Gastrochilus bellinus (Rchb.f.) Kze. 1891 orchid is in common parlance called The Cute Gastrochilus.
The really cute, waxy flowers of this outstandigung orchid species reach a size of about 3,5 cm and have a nice fragrance. Gastrochilus bellinus (Rchb.f.) Kze. 1891 orchids are endemic to Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos and South China and grow in forests at elevations of 600 - 1700 meters. Flowering Period: January - March. The tropical orchid requires cool - warm temperatures and a shady location. Gastrochilus bellinus orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
