Habenaria medusa Kraenzl.1893 is a terrestrial growing orchid species native to Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia. The extraordinary flowers get a size of about 9 cm in diameteand are born on multi flowered inflorescences reaching a lengths up to about 50 cm. Flowering period: June - August. Habenaria medusa orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).The tropical orchid requires cool to warm temperatures and a shady location. Habenaria medusa needs a long and dry winter rest, starting whilst leaves drop in September until new growth appears in March. During the growth season plants should be kept humid, but not wet.
