Hoya erythrostemma Kerr 1939 is a tropical wax flower vine,
native to Thailand and Malaysia.
In its natural habitat the slow growing Hoya erythrostemma can reach lengths up to about 12 meters, but as a container plant it will just grow up to lengths of about 1,50 meters. Young plants need several years until they flower for the first time. Flowers are born in umbels of up to 30 flowers. Flowering period: Spring and Autumn. There are several color varieties of the waxy corona available, from creamy white (picture above) to pink to red (picture below). Hoya erythrostemma plants are best cultivated in full sun to partial shade, but hot midday sun should be avoided as it may burn the attractive foliage.
