Orchid Hybrid Dendrobium Green Lantern
02/04/2013
Dendrobium Green Lantern is an epiphytic growing orchid hybrid, a crossing between Dendrobium Dawn Maree (seed parent) and the rare in nature Dendrobium cruentum (pollen parent).
The tropical orchid hybrid has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1988 by H & R., an orchid nursery in Waimanalo, Hawaii. The long-lasting flowers get a size of about 6 cm. Flowering period: all around the year. Young flowers have distinct green stripes, but whilst the flowers get elder the stripes turn to white. This is most likely the reason, why the orchid hybrid has been named Dendrobium Green Lantern. The tropical orchid hybrid requires intermediate to warm temperatures and medium light. Plants should be kept humid, but not wet, during the growth season. Waterings should be restricted during the winter rest until new growth appears.
