Phalaenopsis amboinensis J.J.Smith 1911

The small,epiphytic growing orchid species Phalaenopsis amboinensis J.J.Smith 1911, native to Sulawesi and the Maluku Archipelago (Moluccan Islands), has been named after the island of Ambon, part of the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. The longlasting flowers reach a size of 2,5 - 5 cm. Flowering period: Winter - Spring. Phalaenopsis amboinensis orchids are widely used in producing yellow hybrids.
