Rhyncattleanthe Free Spirit (synonym: Potinara Free Spirit) is an epiphytic growing intergeneric orchid hybrid, a crossing between Rhyncattleanthe Twentyfour Carat
(seed parent) and Cattleya Beaufort (pollen parent).

Rhyncattleanthe Free Spirit, developed by Hawaiian H&R Nurseries, has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in 1990 by Orchid Center. The waxy looking, yellow flowers with a red blotch on the lip get a size of about 10-13 cm. Inflorescences carry up to 3-4 flowers. Flowering period: November - February, but with perfect conditions the orchid hybrid may flower 2-3 times a year. Rhyncattleanthe Free Spirit (Potinara Free Spirit) requires intermediate temperatures and a location in partial shade. Plants should be kept moist, but not wet. Rhyncattleanthe, abbreviated Rth. in horticultural trade, is the nothogenus (hybrid genus) for intergeneric crossings between the orchid genera Cattleya, Guarianthe and Rhyncholaelia.
