Staurochilus gibbosicalcar Seidenf. 1988 is an epiphytic growing Thai orchid, found in West Thailand, with small, but colourful flowers.


Inflorescences of the Staurochilus gibbosicalcar Thai orchid species reach a length up to about 50 cm and carry up to about 10 flowers. Flowers get a size of about 2 cm. Flowering period: April. Staurochilus gibbosicalcar Thai orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical Thai orchid requires a warm to hot, humid climate and a moderate shady place. Staurochilus gibbosicalcar orchids are best cultivated in hanging baskets with coconut fibre, fir bark or sphagnum moss and can be mounted as well.
