Vanda denisoniana Bens. & Rchb.f. 1869 is an epiphytic growing orchid species endemic to Indochina (Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam) and South China (Yunnan).
The erect inflorescences of Vanda denisoniana get a length of about 15 cm and carry up to 7 highly fragrant flowers. The very pleasant scent is reminescent of vanilla and is strongest in early evening. Single flowers get a size of 5-6 cm. The color of this beautiful Vanda orchids vary from ivory white, lemon yellow, golden yellow, greenish yellow and brownish yellow to copper. Flowering period: September. Vanda denisoniana are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). Vanda denisoniana orchids require a cool to warm climate, bright light or full sun and a high humidty.
