Tabebuia chrysantha (Jacq.) G. Nicholson 1887, commonly called Golden Goddess or Golden Trumpet Tree, is a deciduous, tropical tree, native to Central- and South America and the Caribbean Islands.

The Golden Goddess tree reach heights up to about 12 meters and is cultivated nowadays in many tropical and subtropical countries around the world for its beautiful appearance whilst in full flower. By the end of the tropical cold season the Golden Trumpet tree drops all of its leaves and sprout big clusters of stunning yellow, tubular shaped flowers. The slightly fragrant flowers get a size of about 5 cm. Flowering period: February - April. Tabebuia chrysantha belongs to the Bignonia family (Bignoniaceae), which contains about 104 genera. The Golden Goddess requires a warm-hot, humid climate and is best cultivated in partial shade to full sun. Whilst the Golden Trumpet Tree drops its leaves, watering should be restricted.

The tropical tree isn`t hardy and doesn`t accept freezing temperatures. The Golden Goddess Tree is widly known as Tabebuia chrysantha, which is unfortunatly just accepted as a synonym by the science of botany. The accepted names are Handroanthus ochraceus (Cham.) Mattos 1970 and Tabebuia ochracea (Cham.) Standl. 1936. Tabebuia chrysantha is the national tree of Venezuela, as its golden-yellow flowers symbolize the yellow on the Venezuelan flag.
