Phalaenopsis violacea Teijsm. & Binn. 1862 Borneo (Phalaenopsis bellina), in common parlance called “The beautiful Phalaenopsis”, is a Phalaenopsis orchid species endemic to Malaysia and Borneo (Kalimantan). The tropical orchid grows epiphytic on branches of trees at elevations beyond 200 meters. The flowers grow to a size of about 5 cm and are higly fragrant. Flowering period> throughout the year. Phalaenopsis violacea orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).



The beautiful Phalaenopsis requires intermediate to warm temperatures and should kept always moist, but not wet.
Cultivation hint:
The inflorescences can rebloom several times,
so do not cut away green inflorescences !

Why do people talking about Malaysia CONSTANTLY refused to acknowledge that there is no geographic or political entity called Borneo.

Borneo is the old Dutch name for what is now, and has been for centuries, part of the Indonesian archipelago. The correct name for the island is Kalimantan. Even that portion that is under Malaysian and Bruneian rule is on the island of Kalimantan.
