Orchid Hybrid Bulbophyllum Wilbur Chang
27/12/2012
Bulbophyllum Wilbur Chang is a primary orchid hybrid, a crossing between the species orchids Bulbophyllum echinolabium (seed parent) and Bulbophyllum carunculatum (pollen parent). The Orchid Hybrid has been developed by Wilbur A.Chang, a passionated and experienced orchid grower from Hawaii,
who cultivates orchids for more than 50 years.
Bulbophyllum Wilbur Chang has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society by H & R Nurseries, Waimanalo, Hawaii in the year 2006. Flowers get a size of about 20 cm and unfortunatly they have the same stinky smell like Bulbophyllum echinolabium. As a tropical orchid hybrid, both parents are native to Indonesia, Bulbophyllum Wilbur Chang requites a warm - hot, humid climate and a good air movement to avoid fungal infections. To induce blooming watering should be restricted during the winter rest and plants should be kept at cooler temperatures (about 15°C). Flowering period: Summer.
