Coelogyne trinervis Lindl. 1828 is an epiphytic, occasssionally lithophytic growing orchid species, native to Myanmar (forrmerly Burma) Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia. The erect to arching inflorescences reach lengths up to 25 cm and carry up to about 8 simultaneously opening flowers. The fragrant flowers get a size of about 4 cm in diameter. Flowering period: November. Coelogyne trinervis orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical orchid requires cool to intermediate temperatures, a location in partial shade and a well drained potting medium. Plants should be kept moist, but not sogging wet, during the growth season. During the winter rest waterings should be restricted.
