Miniature Orchid Coelogyne schilleriana

The miniature orchid Coelogyne schilleriana Rchb.f. 1858 has been named by Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach in the year 1858 in honour to the German orchid enthusiast Consul Schiller. The rare orchid beauty is native to Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Thailand. The small, epiphytic growing Coelogyne species orchid, blooms from December - April. The solitary flowers reach a size of about 7,5 cm.
Coelogyne schilleriana orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).



The tropical miniature orchid requires intermediate to warm temperatures, a partial shady location and a well drained potting nedium. Whilst plant go dormant during the winter, waterings should be restricted, until new roots begin to grow.
