Doritis is a small orchid genus established in the year 1833 by the father of orchidaceae Sir John Lindley. The mostly lithophytic or terrestrially, rarely epiphytic, growing Doritis orchids are native to South East Asia and are widely used for hybridization with Phalaenopsis orchids, this hybrids are called Doritaenopsis.
