Calanthe is a genus of the Orchidaceae family.
Most of the Calanthe species grows terrestrially, just a few epiphytic. Calanthe orchids are widely spread all over South-East Asia, but a few Calanthe species are also found in Africa, Madagascar and Middle America.
The name Calanthe was published by Robert Brown in the year 1821 and replaced the former by Louis-Marie Aubert du Petit-Thouars given name Alismorkis. The genus Calanthe includes about 260 species.
