Catasetum Orchids

Orchids from the mostly epiphytic growing genus Catasetum have sexually dimorphic flowers, means male and female flowers are different in form and color. The Catasetum genus, established in the year 1822 by the German botanist Karl Sigismund Kunth (1788-1850), contains about 150 orchid species, native to Central- and South America and the Carribean islands. The abbreviation in horticultural trade is: Ctsm.
