Ascocentrum curvifolium (Lindl.) Schltr.1913 is an epiphytic growing orchid species, native to the Himalayas, India (Assam), South China, Nepal, Myanamar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The erect inflorescences reach lengths of about 25 cm and are packed with multiple flowers. The orange-red flowers get a size of about 2,5 cm in diameter and last for 2-3 weeks.
Floweriing period: Spring - Summer.
Ascocentrum curvifolium orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). Ascocentrum orchids are extensively used in hybridisation, preferential with Vanda orchids, which creates the nothogenus Ascocenda (abbreviated Ascda. in horticultural trade).

The tropical orchid requires intermediate to warm temperatures, bright light or full sunlight, a well drained potting medium and a good air circulation. Waterings should be decreased during the winter month. Ascocentrum curvifolium orchids are best cultivated in hanging baskets or mounted on wood.
