Bulbophyllum wallichii Rchb.f 1864 is an epiphytic growing miniature orchid species, endemic to Thailand, Vietnam, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar (formerly Burma), India (Assam, Sikkim) and the Himalayas.
The strange looking, yellow flowers grow to a lenghts of about 3,5 cm. Flowering period: January. The tropical orchid was named in honour of the Danish botanist of the danish botanist Nathaniel Wallich (1786-1854). Bulbophyllum wallichii orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The miniature orchid requires a cool - warm, humid climate and a shady location.
