Oberonia myosurus (G. Forst.) Lindl. 1830

24/06/2013

Oberonia myosurus (G. Forst.) Lindl. 1830 is an epiphytic growing miniature orchid species, native to the Himalayas, China, Nepal, Myanmar (formerly Burma),
Thailand and Vietnam.

The tiny, little flowers get a size of just about 0,2 cm and are nearly not visible to the eye. The very small, orange flowers (when mature), are densely grouped on inflorescences with lengths up to about 5 cm. Flowering period: late Summer - Autumn. Oberonia myosurus orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical miniature orchid requires an intermediate – warm, humid climate and is best cultivated in shade to partial shade. Plants should be kept moist, but not wet, during the growth season, whilst waterings should be slightly restricted
during the winter rest.
