Miniature Orchid Bulbophyllum rufilabrum
10/12/2012
Bulbophyllum rufilabrum Parish ex Hook. f. 1890 is an epiphytic growing miniature orchid species, native to India, Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Thailand.
Flowers are born on arching, mostly hanging inflorescences, which carry up to about 20 flowers. Single flowers get a size of about 0,3 cm width and 0,6 cm length. Flowering period: October - December. The miniature orchid requires a warm - hot, humid climate, a shady location and a good air movement to avoid fungal infection. Plants should be kept moist, but not soggy. Bulbophyllum rufilabrum orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II
(trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
