Ascocenda Suksamran Gold is an epiphytic growing orchid hybrid with big golden-yellow flowers,
a crossing between the hybrids Ascocenda Jiraprapa (seed parent) and Vanda Udom Gold (pollen parent). The orchid hybrid has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1992 by the Thai orchid breeder Suksamran.

Ascocenda, abbreviated as Ascda. in horticultural trade, is the nothogenus for orchid hybrids from Ascocentrum and Vanda. This stunning hybrids are mostly developed in the South East Asian countries Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand and the Philippines. Ascocenda orchids are well-liked for their long-lasting flowers and their bright colors. They bloom 2-3 times a year. This orchid hybrids are best cultivated in hanging baskets, without any potting medium, as the orchid plants absorb water from the air. They should be watered once a day, best dipped and regularly fertilized (high Nitrogen fertilizer). The tropical orchid hybrid requires temperatures from 15-22 ° C (night) and from 20-28 °C (day) and a partial-shady - sunny location,
but too much full sun may cause leave burns. Even as Ascocentrum flowers are long-lasting, they aren`t suitable as cut-flowers, as they quickly wither, whilst cut.
