Sagittaria lancifolia L. 1759, commonly called Bull Tongue Arrowhead is a perennial plant belonging to the water plantains (Alismataceae). Because of its large potato-like bulbo-tuber Sagittaria lancifolia is also known as duck potato. The aquatic plant found in marshes and swamps is native to the south of the USA, but widely spread throughout tropical countries worldwide, where it`s used as an ornamental plant for ponds. Bull-tongue arrowhead inflorescences can reach lengths of more than 1 meter, the showy, white three-petaled flowers get a size of about 3 cm in diameter.
