Orchid Hybrid Phalaenopsis Ever Spring Fairy

29/10/2012

Phalaenopsis Ever Spring Fairy is an orchid hybrid, a crossing between the Phalaenopsis hybrids Phalaenopsis Taisuco Kochdian (seed parent) and Phalaenopsis Golden Peoker (pollen parent).

The stunning orchid hybrid has been registred with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1997 by Ever Spring Orchids, an orchid nursery in Winnipeg, Canada, which is specialised on Phalaenopsis hybrids. Phalaenopsis Ever Spring Fairy flowers get a size of about 10 cm. The orchid hybrid is a free bloomer, means it hasn`t a specific flowering period. Like most Phals, Ever Spring Fairy requires night temperatures of about 18° C and in day time between 22° C and 27° C. The orchid is perfectly placed near an East window, a West window is good. If cultivated under fluorescent light, the plant requires light levels of 1,000 - 1,500 foot candles.

Avoid direct sun and temperatures above 30° C. Phalaenopsis hybrids need moderate humidity levels, they should be watered thoroughly and then not again until the potting media is nearly, but not completely, dry. Never water or spray water on the flowers ! With good care the orchid hybrid Phalaenopsis Ever Spring Fairy can stay in bloom up to about 6 month. To induce blooming, keep the orchid a bit cooler in autumn and repot it
about once a year.
