Heliconia Plants

Heliconia is a plant genus in the order Zingiberales, established by the great botanist Carl Linnaeus.
Heliconia plants are well-liked, because of their spectacular inflorescenses, the mostly small flowers peeping out from the bracts.
Heliconia inflorescences are widley used for floral decorations and are long-living.
The Heliconia genus contains about 200 species, native to tropical America and the Pacific Ocean islands.
