Cynorkis uncinata H. Perrier 1931 Madagascar Orchids

Madagascar, the worlds second biggest island state, has a unique nature and a lot of it´s own orchid species, like the Cynorkis uncinata H. Perrier 1931 orchid.


The beautiful, terrestrial growing orchid Cynorkis uncinata H. Perrier 1931 was finally classified by the french botanist Joseph Marie Henry Alfred Perrier de la Bâthie in the year 1931. Cynorkis uncinata is found in Madagacar and South Africa. The flowers gets a size of about 5 cm in length. Flowering period: Summer. As quite recently we had to find out, Cynorkis uncinata is just accepted as a synonym, the botanical name, accepted by the science of botany is:
Cynorkis calanthoides Kraenzl. 1882.
Cynorkis calanthoides (Cynorkis uncinata) orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
