Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) Kunth 1821, commonly called Nance, Golden Spoon, Nancite or Nancy Tree is a flowering tree, native to tropical America.

The slow growing Nance or Golden Spoon tree can reach heights about 10 meters, mostly it`s much smaller. Byrsonima crassifolia is valued, especially in Central- and South America and the Caribbean Islands for its small yellow fruits, but also very well-liked as an ornamental plant for its cute yellow-orange flowers. Nance trees require a tropical or subtropical, warm - hot and humid climate, but are highly drought-tolerant. Byrsonima crassifolia belongs to the Malpighiaceae family, which contains about 75 genera with about 1300 species, all native to tropical or subtropical regions. Nance fruits are used for desserts and for the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
