The Lollipop Plant (Pachystachys lutea Nees 1847), also called Golden Shrimp Plant, Yellow Shrimp Plant or Candle Plant, is a small perennial, tropical forb or shrub with woody stems, native to Central and South America.

Pachystachys lutea reaches heights of about 1,20 meter. The Lollipop plant, with its curious, showy yellow to orange-yellow flower bracts requires a sunny - moderate shady location and is also suitable as an indoor pot plant. In tropical environments the evergreen plant, which belongs to the Acanthus family (Acanthaceae) blooms throughout the year, but doesn`t tolerate cold temperatures. The golden shrimp plant can be pruned to shape the shrub.
