29/11/2013

Vanda Crownfox Red Delicious (synonym: Ascocenda Crownfox Red Delicious) is an epiphytic growing orchid hybrid, a crossing between the hybrid Vanda Peggy Foo (seed parent) and the species orchid Vanda denisoniana (pollen parent). Vanda Crownfox Red Delicious has been developed and registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 1998 by R.F.Orchids, an orchid nursery in Homestead, Florida, USA.
Flowers are born on erect inflorescences, which carry up to about 15 flowers with a size of about 5 cm in diameter. Flowering period: about 2 times a year. The red flowered Vanda hybrid requires warm temperatures, a location in full sun – partial shade and a well drained potting medium, like sphagnum moss, tree fern fibers and/or pieces of coarse fir bark,
to avoid root rot.
