Yellow Ground Orchid (Spathoglottis kimballiana)

Spathoglottis kimballiana Hook. f. 1895, commonly called Yellow Ground Orchid, is a terrestrial growing orchid species, native to the island of Borneo (Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei)
and the Philippines.


Inflorescences of Spathoglottis kimballiana reach lengths up to 60 cm and carry several, successively opening flowers. Flowers get a size of 7,5 cm. Flowering period: Spring - Summer. The tropical orchid requires a warm - hot, humid climate and a lot of sun. The roots should be kept moist, but watering should be restricted during the winter rest. The yellow ground orchid is considered as an easy to care orchid. Spathoglottis kimballiana orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival).
