31/12/2009

Dendrobium scabrilingue Lindl. 1859, commonly called The Rough-Lipped Dendrobium, is a small sized, epiphytic growing Dendrobium orchid species endemic to Thailand,
Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Laos.

In Thailand Dendrobium scabrilingue is called Ueang Sae and is found at elevations from 600 - 1200 meters. The highly fragrant flowers get a size of about 3 cm in diameter. Flowering period: December - February. Dendrobium scabrilingue orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical orchid requires cool to warm temperatures and medium light. Plants should be kept moist, but not wet during growth season, whilst waterings should be restricted during the winter rest.
