Dendrobium polyanthum Wall. ex Lindl. 1830, an epiphytic growing orchid species, is often called Dendrobium cretaceum Lindl. 1847, which is accepted as a synonym and often confused with Dendrobium primulinum Lindl. 1858, which has bigger flowers and sepals and petals are mauve. Dendrobium polyanthum orchids are native to the Himalayas, India (Assam), Nepal, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The fragrant, white flowers with purple veins get a size of 3-5 cm.
Flowering period: March – April.
