Epidendrum stamfordianum Bateman 1838

Epidendrum stamfordianum Bateman 1838 is, like the most Epidendrum orchids, an epiphytic, rarely terrestrialy growing orchid species, endemic to tropical America, from Mexico through to Venezuela. Inflorescences can reach a length up to about 80 cm and sprout lots of fragrant, long-lasting flowers. Flowering period: Winter – Summer. Flower size: about 4 cm long. As we found this impressive, showy orchid beauty 2 years ago at an orchid competition in our hometown Chiang Mai, North Thailand, the orchid wasn´t labeled and we`ve been sure it must be a hybrid. I few days ago we stumbled upon a picture and could identify the orchid. We´ve been quite surprised,
that it´s a species orchid.
