Orchid Hybrid Phalaenopsis I-Hsin Sunflower

24/04/2013

Phalaenopsis I-Hsin Sunflower is an epiphytic growing orchid hybrid, a crossing between the hybrids Phalaenopsis Taipei Gold (seed parent)
and Phalaenopsis Brother Nugget (pollen parent).

The stunning yellow orchid hybrid has been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in the year 2001 by W.T.Chien, an orchid breeder from Taiwan, specialized in Phalaenopsis hybrids. Flowers get a size of about 7 cm in diameter. Flowering period: Winter - Spring. Phalaenopsis I-Hsin Sunflower requires, like most Phalaenopsis orchids, intermediate to warm temperatures and a shady location. To induce blooming this orchids should be kept a bit cooler before the flowering season and all around the year they like a contrast between day and night temperature. Phalaenopsis orchids should never sit in water and need a good air movement to avoid root and leaf rot. As long as the inflorescence isn`t completely dried out, never cut it away, as it may rebloom several times.
