There is still a bit of confusion about the
Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi f. sanguinea Christenson 2001
and other subspecies or variations of the
Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi (Breda) Blume & Rchb.f.1860.
The name Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi f. sanguinea Christenson 2001
is still just a synonym. In trade the beautiful red Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi
is mostly called Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi red.
Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi orchids are native to
India, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Laos, Vietnam,
Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The Latin name cornu cervi means horn of a dear.
In Thailand this orchid species is called Khao Kwang On.
Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi flower get a size of about 3-4 cm.
Flowering period: July – August
